Philip Howe

I have been actively painting since high school, when I first came upon a number of classic illustrators’ works and realized the talent they had back then was as good as anything I’d seen in the museums. I was lucky to do illustration work for major clientele for over 30 years but I never stopped painting my own ideas. My work continues to be a mixture of subjects- landscapes from our hikes in the Pacific NW and South Western US, figure work, and other conservative imagery. But the main bulk of my oil paintings are spiritually based or my more recent Dream series.

Currently I am working on a number of studies and small panels for larger canvases dealing with surreal imagery and more contemporary subjects.
