Barbara Rutherford

Barbara works with watercolors, acrylics and collage materials to create pieces that emit peace, serenity and joy. Using few brush strokes on her watercolors, she leaves the details to the viewer's imagination. Her large acrylic abstracts show vibrancy that reflect excitement and joy.

Barbara's background includes living both on the plains and in the cities of the U.S. Her art shows knowledge of, and sensitivity to, both types of landscape. She often uses a muted palette in her art but also creates pieces that show more varied and vibrant colors.

Having graduated from WWU, with a Master's Degree in Creative Arts in Education, she became a teacher who used her love of art to show children the joy creating can bring!

Barbara has won awards for many of her abstracts in various art shows. She creates each artwork with interest and care for the peace and contentment it may bring to others.
