Laif W Bannon
Laif Bannon is an artist whose paintings are expressions of what he calls the "unpredictable organization" found in life's pattern.
"As human beings, we have a tendency to stroll through daily life, living out our own patterns which we think are very predictable, but in fact, are full of unpredictable nuance."
Each of us interpreting the same unpredictable occurrence in a different way provides the philosophical grist for the artist's mill. Hence, the work is designed to enhance the nature reaction. Each painting reflects the many planes upon which people operate -perceptions, feelings, knowledge, bias, etc. As a result, the viewer is unconsciously drawn into each painting, discovering more than is initially perceived. Not only in terms of what one sees, but also what one feels.
Mr. Bannon holds a Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Illinois University, which he attended on scholarship focusing on weaving and printmaking. He has also studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and the Harrington Institute of Interior Design in Chicago. In addition to his current work in painting, he has worked in the areas of retail and interior design and has been featured in 1001 home ideas, Kansas City Star & Times, and Metropolitan Home Magazine. His paintings have appeared in numerous exhibits and have been included in permanent collections, both public and private.
