Karen McClelland

As a life long resident of the Pacific Northwest Karen lives on 20 acres with a husband, horses, dogs, goats, cats and two busy teenagers.

Karen McClelland is a figurative oil painter greatly influenced by Russian impressionism. She often paints "alla prima", also known as wet into wet. Painting quickly, she amisto make each stroke count and be correct from the start. While value is important she is a true colorist at heart. Always striving for a loose painterly fashion in which you'll find hard, soft, and lost edges.

As a figurative painter her work often leans towards animals, and equestrian lifestyles. To represent these subjects while retaining structural accuracy is what her work is all about. Karen also accepts a limited amount of commission work each year.
