Mike O'Day
Mike earned a degree in Advertising Design/Commercial Art in St.
Louis, Missouri in 1985, and was employed in a number of ad
agencies. In Los Angeles, he worked as a party caricaturist and
freelance illustrator, publishing his artwork in many national
publications. Mike continued his freelance illustration career in
Seattle, splitting his time between his art, and helping raise his
two sons as a stay-at-home-dad. He’s worked in many different media
including painting, printmaking, computer graphics and others.
Mike has taught art to children for the last seven years, and has
many class projects displayed throughout Maplewood K-8 elementary
school in Edmonds. In 2004 he was admitted in the Frances Anderson
Sculptor’s Workshop where he is presently focusing his energy on
ceramic sculpture and garden art. In 2006 Mike’s ceramic piece “Red
Plant Man” won Best of Show in the Edmonds Arts Festival and was
purchased by the Edmonds Arts festival foundations permanent
collection. He is also a member of Artists Connect in Edmonds and
has participated in numerous juried art shows and has had a number
of solo exhibitions.
