Water
media allows me to express the imagery I see and feel in nature. My
objective is to put on canvas or paper the beauty I see in nature,
translating, abstracting and adding my inner feelings. I have
eliminated any attempts at literal representation. Experimentation
with all media and discovering the interaction is an important
focus. Like a jazz musician I interpret, improvise, embellish and
spontaneously make marks on canvas or paper. Acrylic paints combined
with collage fascinate me. The results are interesting and have a
quality of three-dimensionality that I find very pleasing. New
series done in this manner are titled “Abstractions from Nature”,
“Earth Poems”, “Window Series” and “Grecian Diary”.
‘Making art is feeling and seeing what’s around you.’ Born and
educated in Germany, I began painting with watercolors in High
School, adopting other media in later years. My informal art
education includes courses and workshops at the Boston Museum of
Fine Art School, the DeCordova Museum School in Lincoln (MA), and
Sir George Williams University in Montreal, Canada. In addition I
have attended national and international workshops and classes in
various media. I returned to watercolors in early 1995. More
recently I have switched to acrylics and collage.
I have been juried into a number of national shows. I am a juried
member of Women Painters of Washington, a member of the Northwest
Watercolor Society, Eastside Fine Art Association, and Mercer Island
Visual Art League.
I have had solo exhibitions at the Concord Cooperative Bank, Concord
MA, Bellevue WA City Hall, Bellevue Public Library, and have been
part of Group shows including the Seattle Art Museum Volunteer show,
Westwind Gallery, Casper WY, the Period Gallery, Lincoln NE,
Breckenridge Fine Arts Center TX, Punta Gorda FL Art Association,
Louisiana Art & Artists Guild. I have been “Featured Artist” in
