Ellen Williams

Ellen Williams is a freelance and fine art photographer from Woodinville, Washington. She received her initial professional training and guidance through the Canon Masters Program in 1997 and was selected as an “Emerging Artist” in 1999 by Made in Washington. The artist is a member of the Eastside Association of Fine Arts, Woodinville Artists Association, and Kirkland’s Parklane Gallery.

Her fine art photography has been enjoyed in galleries throughout Western Washington, and she has been a featured artist in shows & festivals in La Conner, Mount Vernon, Kirkland, Redmond, Edmonds, & Woodinville, Washington. One of her floral pieces, Les Fleurs, appeared (Spring 2003) in juried EAFA Shows at the Bellevue Art Museum and Overlake Hospital in the presentation, “Healing Arts.” Selected works have been presented in juried shows and have won awards. Many of the artist’s freelance images have been published in magazines and brochures and are located on numerous promotional websites for The La Conner Chamber, The Cascade Loop Association, and The Port of Chelan County.

Ellen Williams’ work reflects her passion for capturing light and intense color on film to enlighten the art of the moment. Her heart and residence have belonged to the Pacific Northwest since 1970. She is especially drawn to quaint rural settings, the grandeur of our mountains and forests, the allure of islands and beaches we enjoy here in the Northwest, as well as on the Hawaiian Island of Maui. Many of her images focus on ethereal beauty and artistic composition within everyday moments: Her macro lens floral images provide passage into a different world by transcending visual perceptions beyond our ordinary realm.

The artist’s works are not digitally altered or enhanced. Her works have been printed in the Type R process directly from a slide or transparency. Currently she is combining her passion for learning to work in other mediums with her photography by having some photoimages printed onto canvas as underpaintings and then creating new images with oils and acrylics, i.e. mixed media paintings. Her choice is to enhance with a paintbrush or oil bar instead of a computer!
