Local Color Application

Each artist may submit up to 3 pieces of 2D art. Pieces selected by our jury will be exhibited at Parklane Gallery during the month of March, 2011. The show is open to all 2-D visual artists. The entry fee is $20.00 for 1 image and $5.00 for each additional image. A maximum of three images may be entered.

Entries must be submitted initially in digital format only. Images must be in jpeg format and should be approximately 1200 pixels on the longest side (or 4 inches at 300 dpi). Include last name title of artwork, medium, actual dimensions of the piece in the jpg title. Example: Wallace_sunset_pastel_16x20.jpg.

All art work shall be original work by the artist. All art is required to be properly prepared for hanging with screw eyes or d-rings and wires, no saw tooth hangers allowed, frames must be in good condition and wrapped canvas must have the sides painted or finished appropriate to the piece. Any work not meeting these standards will not be hung or displayed. Artwork must be properly represented by the digital image or will not be hung or displayed.

Cash prizes totalling $700.00 will be awarded by our adjudicator, Jennifer Bowman. Goods and Service awards will be made by local Kirkland merchants.

About our adjudicator:

Local artist, Jennifer Bowman, will be selecting the cash award winners from our Local Color show at Parklane Gallery in March. Jennifer is a third generation artist and, among other major accomplishments, she was winner of the Skagit Valley Tulip poster Contest (2004) and Edmonds Arts Festival Poster (2004). Her work is found in private and corporate collections in the United States as well as in France and the Netherlands, and more recently was featured on the Eddie Bauer summer catalog cover. Investigation into how light plays off a subject and the interaction of warm light and cool shadows is what excites Jennifer when it comes to painting. Parklane is pleased and excited to welcome Jennifer's expertise and participation in our Local Color show.

Entry Information:

Parklane Gallery welcomes all local artists to enter our upcoming Juried Art Exhibition “Local Color”. All art which has a local theme or motif - especially Downtown Kirkland - will be considered and may be either abstract or representational. 2D work should not exceed 40 inches width, including frame.

All entries must include:

Entries

After recieving notification of acceptance bring artwork to Parklane Gallery on the delivery date: 3/6/11 from 11am-4:00pm.

All accepted work must be priced for sale and must remain for the duration of the exhibition. Parklane Gallery staff will handle all sales. A 40% gallery commission will be charged.

• In addition multiple Sponsor Awards will be given by local businesses to artist of their choice!
